Nope, won't cannibalize itself. College football is the 2nd most watched
sport on TV, behind the NFL. Bad MAC/Sunbelt bowl games outdraw any nationally televised regular season game MLB/NBA/NHL/MLS from the previous season. 10 years from now, College football will still drive that much viewership.
Whatever ESPN loses on viewership from specific teams, it gains viewers who want to see the best college football teams play each other. These moves are good for them.
Is the SEC greedy? Yes they are. They have schools with stakeholders that are much more motivated to win than you are. Willing to change the paradigm to get advantages over other schools in other conferences. They see their greed as strength, your lack of it as weakness.
