Once we used UVa, state politics, and litigation to get into the ACC in '03

there was no turning back. Had we left and joined the SEC with A&M, it would have weakened the ACC and consequently our partner, UVa. I hate saying this, but it is true. And that is even before we get into exit fees and grant of rights.

Moreover, I'm not even sure we were even invited. If we were NOT invited, it is because the SEC knew we were stuck. I also think NC State could have been a play for the SEC. But in terms of state politics, they had the same problem as us. But at least they weren't dependent on UNC to get them into the ACC in the first place. So they may have has a bit more wiggle room to leave.
