Opportunity to join SEC over ACC

if there was any truth to the rumors that the SEC would have preferred VT over Missouri, but VT preferred the ACC for various academic etc. reasons, what are the long-term implications to VT choosing the ACC?

In five years, after the SEC earns more than all other conferences combined, will VT's decision look like the worst conference-related decision by any school in college football ever?

At the time, the ACC berth seemed like a win to me. At the time, I also thought that VT was a far better choice than Missouri for the SEC. Even if you consider academics and athletics roughly equivalent between the two schools, VT offered a connection to the DC area while Missouri is well, in Missouri.

I think we're about the be made largely irrelevant. When the B1G starts cherry-picking UVA, UNC, GT and ND then we'll feel the full impact. How strong are those GORs haha?
