Those are the reasons the USGA is at Torrey. I'm worried that LACC ...


... won't want repeated Opens. It took decades for the USGA to get em to crack for 2023. LACC has been courted as an Open site since the 1970s.

I do like West Coast Opens from a TV viewing standpoint. But besides Pebble there's not so many contenders out there. Olympic is Open-tough, but the extreme sidehill concept is not very likable. LACC, certainly -- but membership has been balky. Riviera? Been done many years ago. There are probably mid-June conditioning issues to work out there.

Chambers Bay in 2015 was a complete fail as far as I am concerned -- and not just from a losing the greens standpoint.

Much of the truly great California golf architecture simply won't do anymore for a men's US Open. But for the women golfers these sites are wonderful -- we saw them play at Wilshire in LA recently, a great piece of artwork that the public doesn't know much about. And the slopes/tightness at Olympic surely produced a more attractive brand of play in the Women's Open than for the men.

We need the USGA to pay whatever it takes to bribe the LACC membership. It would be a great permanent WC spot on the rota to accompany Pebble Beach.

Despite the lack of viable logistical sites, it's still not worth it to waste a US Open week on Torrey Pines. The Farmers is more than enough.
