When I had money, I donated. When I don't have money, I pay my bills.


When you reach retirement age and have had numerous unexpected events which cost my family a lot of $$$, you pay bills and try to build up savings again.

I would love to be able to donate again because VT helped me prepare for a career and gave me great memories and friends that have lasted my entire adult lifetime.

I consider myself an ambassador for VT by promoting the school to young people who are thinking about college. I wear my VT gear as much as I can so those I work with definitely know I am a proud Hokie fan. I have worn out countless hats, sweatshirts, jackets through the years. My 4 grandchildren all know what VT is and when I say "Let's Go" they reply "Hokies". They are aged 8, 5, 3, and 1. My daughter is a VT grad but, unfortunately married a die-hard Hoo fan.

I say, if you can donate, do so. But being an ambassador for VT can be important too.
