Chris, your recent article re Tech's Campaign for Excellence was very well written and it seemingly hit the nail on the head as to what is needed from us fans. Your comment that "negativity breeds negativity" is right on. Unfortunately, there is plenty of negativity on TSL - mostly directed at Coach Fu. Whether deserved or not, such expressions serve no purpose. Whit and others in the Athletic Department know what is going on and will make decisions which they believe to be in the best interest of our program. The decision has already been made that Fu will coach the Hokies this upcoming season. All the complaining and griping and demeaning statements rendered on this board will not change that. What it might change is the perception potential recruits have about Tech; the perception potential donors have about Tech; and the confidence the staff and assistant coaches have about Tech. Negativity breeds negativity. Like many in our country who believe it is better for the US to fail than for John Doe to be President, some fans seem to want Tech to fail simply because they dislike Coach Fu. Since the decision has been made that Fu will be our coach for this year - and possibly the next as well, a show of support might help him - coach, recruit, administer, and teach.
Chris, you called yourself out in your article as being among those of us who could do more. You and Will are in a unique place to help quell negativity and encourage support. Negativity breeds negativity, but the inverse of this might be true as well. Go Hokies! Beat UNC!
