Agree...probably not. But it's also a game of skill.

And that skill has to be honed and developed from a young age. There's a log of muscle memory with regards to soccer that is learned before the age of 13. It is similar to basketball to some degree in that a lot of it is just working with the ball by yourself. I agree...that bigger and stronger isn't always best for soccer, but as you said, that's the American way. How about Lebron at keeper. ;-)
