What really helped me was picking some clubs to follow closely and even get out and play the game with my kids. Now I can appreciate the beauty of the game outside of the scoring. I can see the tactics, the buildup play. One of my favorite games last year was watching Everton draw a tie with Liverpool because I was able to see the defensive strategy playing out on the field. One of the things I really appreciate about the game is that you have to be patient and hold back your frustration to keep trying for that one moment that can change the whole game.
