Sounds like the spectrum app concept, cable without a box


spectrum has an app that more or less mimics the cable box. Rather than a box, you use an app on your smart tv. I love it because you can put a tv anywhere, not worry about where the cable jacks are.

Verizon is part owner of YoutubeTV (if you look up the ownership of the streaming services you will understand why you are never going to save money cutting the cord). So they are marketing their service and likely prioritizing the traffic over their network which will improve the quality of that service.
