....so I meant well, but this was pretty stoopid...

I was about 13 years old, walking the dog in deep of winter, when I noticed what looked like a duck stuck on the ice in the neighborhood lake, about 10-12 feet from the bank.

Concerned that some kids or a predator would hurt it and with nothing that could reach it nearby, my 13 year or brain thought it would be best to venture out and free it.

Ice wasn't solid enough to hold me, so my process was to break some ice, advance, break some more, etc, working my way to the creature.

I'm chest deep in freezing water, fully clothed, about to reach it, when it quacked at me and effortlessly flew away.

In my mind, that duck was at a bar later talking about how stoopid humans are...I think even my dog was laughing at me... man's best friend...as if.
