It feels to me like elected officials are being weenies about making a

decision. Kinda reminds me of all our "zero tolerance" policies...you know the ones that end up being grossly unfair to a majority of people they apply to because officials don't want to expose themselves to the risk of having to actually make a judgement about a situation. Instead of using their judgment (and run the risk of being wrong), they can just treat everyone like carp and hide behind a policy.

Now, we are being given such great-sounding statements that the public safety is the top priority and we don't want to remove any restrictions until we are assured it is safe. The world was hardly a safe place before all this hit. If we wait for it be safe, we'll never exit this dystopia. Meanwhile, we've made the world decidedly unsafe for an awful lot of people by trying to protect them from C-19. Isolation isn't good for people's mental health, nor is economic disaster.

We've trampled the Constitution to enact these measures, which is somewhat understandable in a true national emergency. But that same logic was used to ship Japanese people to internment camps in WWII, and history hasn't judged that decision every well. So to me, returning to normal needs to be everyone's priority ASAP. We need to find a way to do that AND manage (not eliminate...that's impossible, but manage) the risk, especially to those who are most vulnerable.
