I know the NCAA doesn't recognize the FBS champion


My point was that people for whatever reason seem to think that the FCS subdivision is not Division I football.

As far as JMU is concern, the only way JMU would consider switching to the FBS subdivision is if the Dukes received an invitation from a "northern conference" with a foot print in the Mid-Atlantic and New England Region. Given that JMU sees a conference as a way to recruit regular students to the school, I am not sure it matters if it is full or football-only membership.
