If one reads exactly what they say. I think they agree on quite a bit:

- We need to do something now
- We need to work hard to get a better idea of what to do next

If one mistakenly takes Ioannidis's report to suggest what we are doing is unnecessary, they dangerously miss the point entirely. His thesis: "Better information is needed to guide decisions and actions of monumental significance and to monitor their impact" not "this will all be okay without any action because only 1% of people on the locked down Diamond Princess were infected and only 7 of them died."
