"May" is permissive but doesn't require.


When my last GF went to get her RealID, she complained to the clerk that she didn't care for the formatting of the name on the license. What it says for 99% of the population is:

Lastname
Firstname, Middle

She objected, on principle, to placing a comma between the first and middle names. So she complained and they issued her license without the comma.

...and you cant even get the clerk to deal with middle initials vs. names? You must not be hot enough...
