Spray and pray recruiting.

The allure of VT will attract plenty of talent, but coaches aren't smart enough to distinguish the good from the great. Take them all and figure it out later. Problem is that baseball is a funny game. ....skills not athleticism, hot streaks, slumps. Requires a bit of patience. Hit .340 this year and .240 next. Win 10 this year and 2 next. Dump them during the slump and you'll dump everyone eventually. Which is what he is doing.
