There is a good argument to be made to select only one Nevada school. But particularly when you look at potential Cincy, USF and Memphis don’t add anything more.

Cincinnati is a small school with no money in a pro town in a state dominated by the Buckeyes. Nippert Stadium is hemmed in and can’t be expanded. Cincy can’t draw well enough to use Paul Brown Stadium. It is a solid program for what it is, but I think Cincy has hit its ceiling.

Memphis is a historically terrible program in a city that cares more about all the SEC teams that surround it. It is a commuter school that didn’t have Louisville’s luck even with FedEx dollars.

USF is in a great city playing in a beautiful pro stadium. The Bulls have had a few good years and probably have more potential than Cincy or Memphis, but less than UCF. If the Big 12 expands it would be wise to take UCF and USF. But there will be losers in any plan that leads to the sort of final solution I would like to see.

So you can’t tell me any of these schools offer more than the west coast schools. UNLV has sucked for years but put that program in a new pro stadium and watch out. Nevada is a reach, but it either that school or maybe Fresno State.
