If they can prove it's also educating the entire student body.
If they hold non-athletic events in the facility (I don't know if Tech does or not).... I'm not against athletic facilities. They're very necessary. I'm just against them being too elaborate and over budget. The Tech Indoor Facility (Beamer Barn) is also used by lacrosse, soccer, softball, and other athletic programs. My only complaint about that facility is that Tech should've made it 20 feet wider to place retractable bleachers on one side of the facility for lacrosse games. That might provide seating for 750-1,000 people (which is usually enough for lacrosse). Maybe "classroom and lab" facilities to be more specific? Then again, the football program could build a $5 million classroom. UNC taught us that you can get away with bogus classes for athletes as long as the student body can also take them. I guess no matter what the rules/regulations would be, someone would find a way to get around them.
