Except academic buildings don't always educate the entire student body

Even though VT may have a building designated as the "chemistry building" or "biology building," the entire student body didn't take chemistry or biology to satisfy their science requirement. I took geology to satisfy that requirement. Others took astronomy to satisfy the requirement. It is possible that geology and/or astronomy were held in an entirely different building for whatever reason. Also, a lot of students may opt to take their core classes at a community college and then transfer to a 4-year college/university to finish up their undergraduate degree.
