Anyone deal with raccoons around your house

Over the summer, I sighted a raccoon on my deck one night after the kids left some food outside. Last few weeks, something has been getting in my trash can and shredding the bags and eating anything edible.

Friday, prior to the game, kids unloading groceries, and son lets a jar of maraschino cherries fall, crack and spill in the driveway. So I clean up, collect and trash the cherries, and do a quick rinse of the cherry juice in the driveway, rushing to go watch the game.

Later in the evening, I arrive home with the wife, and a big raccoon is in the driveway where the cherries spilled. So, my bad, I should have rinsed the driveway more thoroughly.

My question is how concerned should I be with a raccoon stalking my house. I have a low deck, with plenty of space in which a critter could hide. There is also a creek behind the neighbors house. The raccoon has probably created itself a nice home. Should I get some pros to relocate this critter?
