I don't disagree. My point was 1 team doesn't exactly make a free market

Since Trotz is not allow to talk with the Islanders while still employed with the Caps, he doesn't know for sure if the Islanders would meet his asking price. So if he is looking to get top dollar for his service, then it may be in his best interest to take the year off and see what jobs open up the following offseason. At least many project there will be more than 1 opening after the 2018-2019 season.
