The Football board and Basketball board are places where praise and rooting for the teams are interspersed with criticism of the coaching staff and players. It's a lot of give-and-take, positive and negative. That's the nature of the major sports.

The other boards, most notably the Olympic Sports board, Wrestling board, and Women's Basketball board, are places where people who really love the programs (and a lot of players/athletes families) come to read about their particular sport. They should be, and generally are, more supportive and positive in nature, and less critical.

Unfortunately, the WBB board grew toxic during the Beth Dunkenberger and Dennis Wolff regimes, and the Olympic Sports board has become a place to bash Scot Thomas.

But back to the Baseball board: I agree that criticism of coaches and players should be kept to a minimum/non-existent at this point. Baseball suffered greatly from the move to the A-10 and later the Big East, and while Jim Weaver was quick to throw a lot of money at football and basketball once the school entered the ACC, baseball continued to suffer from a lack of facilities support and fan support for almost 15 years after VT's entry into the ACC.

Baseball is the LAST of the three major sports to get the ACC-upgrade treatment. The facility is now in place, the coaching staff is in place, so let's sit back and enjoy what I believe will be great improvement in the program over the coming 3-5 years.

At this point, my radar is up for people who are using this forum primarily to complain and bash the players and coaches (as it always should be, for every board, not just this one). Take notice.
