*raises hand* I introduced Zoysia to my lawn

So I can offer perspective (which may or may not be valuable).

A neighbor and I decided to experiment with it a few years ago in response to a season when it seemed like we were mowing grass at least twice a week. The fact that it doesn't grow high (and consequently doesn't have to be mowed very often) appealed to us. We also knew that it is basically glorified crabgrass. But we both hate mowing just that much.

We ordered it from the back of some tabloid publication like "Parade." It arrived as strips of sod, which we then had to cut into plugs that were subsequently installed in random places around our respective yards. In my case, it pretty much failed to take root with the spectacular exception of one part of my front yard. Eventually it will grow to overtake my entire property, but right now I've got something along the lines of male pattern baldness when it comes to coverage.

Good point is that it is pretty decent and comfortable yard cover that doesn't require much mowing at all. It's also pretty hearty and durable. Biggest down side is probably the color -- although it should start "greening up" pretty soon.

Neighbor and I are generally in agreement that it's okay -- neither of us are grass aficionados -- but we also refer to it as the lawn maintenance equivalent of Sea Monkeys.
