Benzodiazepines withdrawal: Need recommendation for Doc or Counselor

Have never come to the Lounge looking for something this serious...but...I have a family member in trouble. He has taken himself off "Benzo"...and things are not going well. I'm looking for a Doctor or Counselor in the DC or Richmond metro area who works with those who are no longer taking this medication...but who are struggling mightily with the withdrawal.

For those not in the know (and that was me until a few months ago) Benzodiazepines are given to those suffering from depression. But...there is a growing community of people who believe that this drug...when taken over a long period of time...damages the brain. It's an ugly spiral downward from there.

My family member lives in the Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania area...and can travel reasonable distances north or south for help.

Thanks for any guidance offered.
