If schools start deciding that academic conferences


can be independent of athletic conferences, then I would think it would be neither. Instead, I think VT would opt to forge a new athletic conference (i.e. Metro 2.0) with enough "regional" schools that makes sense athletically.

However, if that is not an option, then I believe VT would opt for the Big Ten assuming Sands is still at VT.
