Well I was talking mathematically.
The mere fact more infants live does not change how long a human typically lives. WHY more infants live does.
Don't think of averages - think of a histogram.
Take 1000 people and most of them die at say 85. And 100 die before their first birthday.
If you magically (without food, medicine, etc) keep 50 of those infants alive and spread their deaths out across all other ages, the average age someone from the original 1000 died does go up, but if the additional 50 that lived are spread statistically among all other death ages, the most likely age of death is still 85.
