The only reason I could see the ACC go with ice hockey

is because more people will watch ice hockey on TV than lacrosse and field hockey. Also, the ACC may want itself to become a global academic and athletic conference which could mean tapping into more European recruits. I do think you are right though that the ACC would like to see more lacrosse schools and field hockey schools too. I just not sure if the ACC is willing to share its revenue to an ice hockey conference(s).
