Almost every basement with a block wall I have seen has


stairstep cracks in the wall from settling. As long as there is no moisture or bulging in of the wall, I can;'t imagine there is a problem. Like others have said, that crack could have formed in year 2.

Do you have plans to finish the basement? If not, no biggie, just watch it. I don't think this is any reason to back out of the contract, or request any reduction in the final hour.

These are all the same questions and issues I have discussed with engineers and contractors about my basement wall too.... but mine bulges a little... I am not worried.
