Bobby Bare; country music's hard-drinking, woman-loving troubadour;

...turns 82 today.

Saw him at Lakeside in Roanoke back when I was just an eft. Man, his band was righteously powerful and his voice was Hank Jr-strong.

Interestingly, this Honky-Tonk style of country music was wildly popular at VT back in the late 70's. Music bars in town were converting to that style. What was the music bar next to the old Mish-Mish? Can't remember. I do recall that they changed their name and put in a mechanical bull.

BTW: Bobby did this song for a collection album called "Honky Tonkin' ". One of the songs on there was the Willie Nelson classic, "I Gotta Get Drunk". Overall, this is a grate album.
