Could be a fuel check valve if it's fuel injected


Next time, turn the ignition to the on position for about 10 seconds before engaging the starter. If it starts normally, its the "anti-drain back" valve. It's not holding fuel pressure at the rail. By turning the key to the run position first, you are engaging the electric fuel pump to repressurize the fuel rail.
