National duals used to be a tournament, but isn't anymore.

Now it is a Big10 vs the rest similar to the ACC/Big10 challenge in basketball.

The weekend after that is the ACC Tournament. Wrestlers are seeded based on the dual meets, and wrestle all day. It is a double elimination tournament so those that lose can still wrestle for third. The real important part about the ACC Tournament is wrestling for NCAA bids. Bids are allocated to the conference based on how good that weight class is. So if at 125 the NCAA identifies 3 wrestlers that should go to NCAAs the ACC gets 3 bids. One of the other wrestlers can "steal" a bid they otherwise wouldn't have gotten. The guy whose bid got stolen may or may not get one of the at large bids.

Which leads nicely to NCAAs. NCAAs is set up the same way as the ACC tourney only bigger. Wrestlers score by winning matches. A win in the championship round counts as a point and a win in the consolation bracket counts as 0.5 points. There are bonus points available for a large margin of victory or pins. However, really were you start racking up points is placement points for All-Americans. So for example getting 1st place gets you 16 points. Which is more points than you can possibly score in the rest of the tournament even if you pin all of your opponents.

I hope that helps. I tried not to get too bogged down in the details so I left quite a bit out.
