Texas opting for the ACC over the B1G seems highly unlikely...

As the president of one of the preeminent research universities in the world (check out the UT medical research $$), the ACC would be a distant #2 behind the B1G. The ACC has its share of research-oriented schools (minus one with departure of Maryland), but it also has FSU, Cuse, Louisville, and other schools that fall short of B1G-calibre R&D.

Also, UT would like to lure students from all over, but how many can it lure from the southeast, where public universities are already affordable? The B1G midwest/northeast footprint is probably a far richer source of students.

Lastly, I doubt UT wants to put itself in a position where Wake Forest shares equal revenue with UT. Maybe the ACC could bend on that aspect (and they should).

I just don't see small picture factors like what 'ESPN wants' dictating here. UT clearly thinks in the long term, and in the long term, the B1G seems better for UT as a university.

That said, I am in favor of the ACC making whatever concessions that are necessary to nab UT: scheduling, unequal revenue sharing, taking whatever additional schools UT wants to tag along etc. Anything. That is one advantage we have over the B1G: the B1G may not want TTU, or TCU, et. al.
