Who says WVU would have a choice? The Big XII could decide and pull


a "Big East" and give WVU 2 options; either get kicked out of the conference (a la Temple) or become a football-only member.

But to answer your question - From WVU's perspective, things could change for them financially (i.e. athletic department starts to receive less funding from the state) to the point where they start to notice the financial burden of being forced to fly for all their away conference games. Since the Big XII doesn't have their own network, then WVU may start to notice that burden quicker (if it isn't already doing so now). WVU may conclude that it is financially better for them to either be a full member of a conference within their region or at least have the luxury for being partial members in conferences within their region for non-revenue. WVU may have joined the Big XII with the assumption that the Big XII was planning to add travel partners for them. Since that didn't happen, maybe WVU is growing tired of being on an island.
