Some answers (spoilers)
I've seen a lot of the same questions raised but after I've thought about it some:
I think we'll hear Sansa's explanation for not telling Jon. If I had to guess it's going to be some combination of:
She wasn't sure when or if Littlefinger was even coming (we never saw her get a raven back). She seemed like she might be wanting to tell him the night before the battle but he made it clear that it was now or never, no waiting, no what ifs or maybes.
She wanted to catch Ramsey off-guard and the only way to do that was to keep Jon in the dark. If she had told Jon and he waits then Ramsay sees the larger army, holes up in Winterfell and the cavalry is useless.
She knew Jon would fall into Ramsay's trap (whatever it might be) and thus didn't trust him to manage the extra troops correctly.
As far as Rickon goes, yes serpentine might have kept him alive until Ramsay just had all his archers send a volley. He was never getting to Jon alive. He was dead the second he was given to Ramsay.
As far as Ghost, yeah I'm sure it was a CGI/cost thing but realistically, Ghost probably would have died. Sure he would have taken some guys with him but the arrows would have gotten him at some point. [Post edited by AbsolutVT03 at 06/21/2016 5:30PM]
