Pretty sure they could still "realign" divisions every 2 seasons.

THAT's what I'm getting at. Just readjust divisions every two seasons after teams complete home and homes. Division champs go to the championship games. How could the B1G, or anyone else, tell the ACC how to align its divisions?
You could randomly rotate the 14 teams through the two divisions and in those years in which VT is not in the same divisions as UVA and Miami, they can be scheduled as our cross-division rival. I think a format could be worked out in which two rivalries could be protected each season.
