Whatever the new technology is, anticipate that the B1G will play the media game better than the rest of us.
Fox acquired the YES (Yankees) Network just prior to Rutgers joining the B1G. They bundled Fox Sports and The BTN with YES and virtually guaranteed carriage. YES is wildly popular in the TriState. That's one example of bundling that will have a "long tail." They tried to buy MASN for the same purpose in Maryland's footprint, but Angelos wouldn't give up his cash cow.
Technology isn't standing still, but the carriage model won't dissappear immediately when a new model gains traction. We may be kidding ourselves if we think carriage fees are near extinction.
