Statement:
On Wednesday, Coyle visited Minnesota’s campus to interview with the search committee and meet with coaches, faculty and senior university leaders. Syracuse released a statement earlier Wednesday that read: “Mark Coyle has informed the University that for family reasons, he is leaving the University for a position at Minnesota. We wish him well.”

Coyle worked under former Gophers AD Joel Maturi while at Minnesota. Reached Wednesday, Maturi said, “It’s a job that fits him, fits Minnesota, fits President Kaler. I think it’s one heck of a hire.”


As for Syracuse. they were ranked #2 in the Learfield Sports Directors Cup standings in January. Since then, Syracuse has sent both the men's and women's basketball teams to the NCAA's and both men's and women's lacrosse teams are both ranked #5 in nationally. Looks like Syracuse will finish very high in the Directors Cup standings.
