#1, make sure your butt joints on the next row go over previous row by

at least 5-6" minimum. Rack your floor out(pcs. to install), then install what you rack. This will make it go faster and give your back a rest when you rack out your next section. Don't worry about finding the perfect piece to finish the row. Find a piece that will end the row and start the next properly and cut it. At the end you will have to hand nail. I've done it 2 ways: 1) put the nail in a drill and drill it through the nose of the flooring , then drive it home, or 2) you can drive it by hand. If you choose to drive it by hand, hold it with a pair of dykes or pliers, which helps to not bend the nail. When the nail is close enough to the tongue you can't hit it again, turn your nail set sideways and drive the nail flush. That will help tighten the joint and usually not break off the tongue. I don't suggest beer with this project with all of the up/downs you will incur. Good luck and glad it's not my back.
