I did little search on the Internet to see if I could figure out

what was triggering me to think there are examples out and I stumbled upon this website. It seems pretty knowledgeable about NLI especially since it includes questions from people. Based on the answer to Steve Cooper's question, it appears the NLI lists all the penalties a student-athlete could face if he/she doesn't fulfill it. In that same answer it appears the release of a student-athlete by the original school doesn't necessarily absolve the student-athlete from those penalties. However, in an earlier answer to an earlier question Rick Allen kinda suggests that enforcement of those penalties may be optional if the student-athlete never formally enrolled in the school (assuming as a full time student).
