Fire up the Hokie Limo and head 2 hours north!

OLH had a great list. I think Berman stole it. OLH should repost it. So I will leave those names off my list. Here's my list. Man or woman, I think WB should hire the best coach. I'm slanted towards Mid Majors here just because I don't think another P5 coach is gonna leave to come to VT.

Kenny Brooks (HC JMU) Hands down the best coach and recruiter in the state. Great fan support. WB should meet him today. It's a short drive! Offer him $440,000 which doubles his salary. It sounds like DW makes $220K+$150K bonus every year according to what I read on TSL. Brooks is worth more than that. JMU is 39th in home attendance, and 3rd for all non P5 teams. This is a no brainer, He's a great coach for any school, AND we are lucky that he's less than 2 hours up the road. It may be a hard sell, because he bleeds purple, but it is certainly worth the try. It will solve all of VTs problems with WBB. Give him an offer he can't refuse. Hiring him would be a slam dunk, home run!! IMO, he is far and away the best candidate.

Others:

Billi Godsey (HC Iona) Coached at VT for 2 years and recruited some of the players still on the team. She just finished her 3rd season with a first round NCAA loss to Maryland. Iona was within 10 points in 4th quarter but lost by 16. 64-33 overall record. 23-12 this season, 15-15 last season, and 26-6 her first season. She won't be at Iona for long.

Cindy Fisher (HC San Diego) Sure its far away, but does she want to coach a big time ACC program, and get a big raise? She coached at ODU for 3 years in the 90s, so she's lived in Virginia before. Shes been at San Diego for 11 years. 10 straight winning seasons, and 7 years of post season play.

Karen Barefoot (HC ODU) 18 seasons as a HC. 8 of those seasons at the D1 level. Turned Elon around in 3 seasons, and then left to coach at ODU. She's doing well at ODU and has posted 4 straight winning seasons. She's a Virginia native, and the fans at ODU really love her. She's from the Va Beach area, so it might help with recruiting.

Tina Langley (HC Rice) Langley spent the last 7 seasons serving as Maryland's associate head coach (Brenda Freese's right hand (wo)man), compiling a 195-49 record during that time. She took over a dreadful Rice team that went 9-21 in her first year. She would have been a great candidate last year, only difference is that she now has one year experience as a head coach for a bad team. Besides coaching at MD, also coached at Clemson, and Georgia.

Charlotte Smith (Elon HC) 4 straight winning season. 2 straight WNIT appearances. Star player at UNC and in WNBA. 9 years as an assistant at UNC before taking Elon job. Should be a great recruiter. Elon is a stepping stone for bigger things for her.

BTW, Tsipis at GW might be headed to Wisconsin. He also benefited from having a top 10 WNBA pick on his roster, so his record might be inflated a bit. Still a great choice. If you google Tsipis and Wisconsin you get links that are hard to read without a subscription but he's their #1 choice.
