"The WCHA is too small potatoes for Arizona State." FWIW Arizona State's 2015-2016 record is/was 5-22-2 which (I believe) is their first season of NCAA DI hockey. I would think if an Independent hockey program (or anyone covering the hockey program) is going to pass judgment on a conference, then it would wait several years when the program is winning on a more consistent basis or has built itself up into a powerhouse.
