Although I think Trump's proposed border wall is a
stupid idea (yes, I know you aren't surprised by that), allow me to take it in a different direction for a moment based on another observation of the Vatican wall. Last time I was there, SDHokie and I had a conversation about what it looks like directly outside that wall. The pictures we see of it online don't really depict the people who inhabit the streets/ sidewalks near every functioning ingress and egress to Vatican City. Those gates and entrances routinely (daily) have homeless and poor people begging for prayers, blessings, mercy, absolution, food, and money. I wonder how His Holiness and any of the previous popes reconcile that wall, the opulence inside, and the abject poverty outside. As much as I prefer His Holiness to his predecessors, it's an instance of hypocrisy.
