Yep, that could backfire, especially if Clemson has some subpar seasons.

That could possibly separate the football program from the students, alumni, and fans. Plus, imagine all the negative press they'll get whenever the media wants to point out the indulgences of modern big time college sports. Clemson's excesses will likely be mentioned.
