I suspect that Coach Young does not think that DNG is a viable starter

Clearly, Coach is trying to recruit over DNG for next season.

While DNG was an important backup last season, his playing time went down as the season progressed, and he rarely played at critical times. I think he is a "tweener" -- not sturdy enough to start at 4/5, and not skilled enough (shooting and handle) to start at wing.

I had high hopes for DNG, as he is really athletic for his size. I still think he has a lot of upside if he can get stronger in the post and/or improve his outside shooting.
