I "ordered"a new vehicle about 6 months ago

which means they looked at allocation sheets until they found one that had what I wanted - model, trim level, color, etc. Told them I was in no hurry and they arranged to get that vehicle after I gave them a $1K deposit.

I waited about 3 months for the vehicle. While I was closing out the paperwork, two other salesmen came up to the desk and offered me first $1,000 then $1,500 more than I was paying for it. They had had two price increases in that 3 months period.

Truck arbitrage. Ought to go "buy" another - and take them up on the offer.
