Well, no future for him, or no future for the NCAA????

The job is almost impossible....

Too many interests, too many different size and types of schools playing collegiate athletics.

And then, the organization (who the membership supports), is required to be an enforcement, but legally they have no authority now.

NCAA was established early as a non-profit organization to promote amateur collegiate athletics and academic excellence. Membership by institution required the institution to follow all the rules, support any NCAA investigation and accept the findings (without lawyers).. HOWEVER,

the world today is completely different, and the NCAA is not configured to handle the double mission of academic excellence and athletic excellence. Its governance is shaken to the core due to any lack of institutions support of enforcement to standards and they have no regulatory authority to enforce compliance and if they try some big institution gets the full load of attorneys, and overwhelms the capability of the NCAA to debate and win the argument.

Rules are made based on committees and developed by working groups of institutions and they come from different lens of institutions.

The shame is NCAA provides a remarkable service to serve as the repository for all NCAA records and history, as well as hosting at all divisions national playoffs and championships. WIth the money they generate, they are able to support the all divisions with a comprehensive championship program without any costs to the participants. To the institutions, the NCAA is margin because there is no annual costs to be a member, and the earnings from NCAA championship (especially in Div I) is huge. Further, it ensures both men and women have equally opportunities to compete in collegiate sports.

I dont know the greedy few schools that make so much money will be willing to invest in all for one and one for all, but rather maximize their program support and they can prepared to leave and create their own NCAA (with their brands). you can name them SEC (16) , USC UCLA Oregon, Clemson, Notre Dame, (and some of the Big 10
