AAU and realignment. Just saw ISU losing its AAU membership. It got me to

thinking. How much will AAU membership impact future realignment in a potential P2?

If the SEC and the B1G are going to blow the doors off the other conferences in the money and prestige arms race, will these two conferences basically lead the way in organizing top level college football and athletics at large?

Further, will the B1G organize half of a potential top tier into a coast-to-coast AAU club that will serve as one of the P2 in the future. And by default, will the SEC organize the others (big time football programs without AAU membership)?

Let's say that the SEC and B1G decide that 12 regular season games is the standard. The SEC gets to pick 26 teams (2 13-team divisions) and the B1G gets to do the same. The B1G would basically go for the AAU types, even to the point of maybe offering some existing AAU schools that are in the SEC (Mizzou, Vandy, UT, A&M, UGa, UF). The SEC might take former AAU Nebraska? Then both sides could split the spoils of the choice cuts of the ACC, Big XII, and Pac-12.

So how much do you think AAU will impact all of this?
