My car monitors the oil and calculates the life left

with my driving habits, I'm getting about 12k miles out of an oil change using full synthetic.

3k oil changes are complete BS. 5k is really only necessary with conventional oil and severe driving conditions. 7.5k is probably normal for most drivers. Getting 10-15k out of a full synthetic is perfectly reasonable.

Not sure about 20k though. Never tried it or heard about it.
