How does one achieve "Umpire Approval?" Seems to be one of those things reserved for certain players/programs. We Hokies as a rule are paranoid with a sense that nobody wants us here - a product of the years of conference nomad status, mistreatment by the Big East, etc. So, when one pitcher is called for illegal pitch and they justify by saying, "It's the rule. Play by the rules." And the opposing pitcher in the game is breaking a different rule but allowed to, I think you as a softball dad can understand the frustration.

I was a softball dad (certainly not for your number of years) and I understand how those things go. Daughter was a slapper and the inconsistency of the application of the out of the box rule was maddening.

To put it simply, we all just want to feel like our team is being held to the same set of rules as the team we are playing. Now about that "Umpire Approved" status - is there an application somewhere that Pete and Doug could fill out or maybe @VTChip could start a fundraiser or something
