I think the ump was trying to do a balancing act here

was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt but he was not going to have a batter called out ... or put in a horrible count when the pitch was illegal because that is blatantly unfair. Especially when the FSU pitcher was doing it right.

At some point, somebody, ANYBODY, needed to go to the mound and tell her that she is leaving the ground and she needs to adjust that. The coaches should have been addressing this from the spring training because clearly it is a "problem". Can't rely on the good graces of an umpire
