I worked 30 years at same company that offered pension & 401K benefits....

I'm enjoying both now. The company no longer offers pension to new hires. My advice to my 20 something kids is to stay with same company as long as you are getting promotions/advancement & growing in competence. Once you become frustrated with lack of either, time to move on. And open an IRA account & contribute as much as you can afford.
